Inequality Talks is a podcast from the volunteers at Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke, Aarhus. Through discussion, debate, and interview, each episode explores a different concept, problem, or idea relating to issues of inequality (economic, gendered, racial, or otherwise). Each episode aims to offer an overview for the uninitiated before diving into the significance of current events, the complexities of what a given idea might mean, and what alternatives to the current status quo might look like in practice. This project has been supported by: ’Den almennyttige fond af 15. september 1968’.

Friday Nov 05, 2021
In this episode, Chris Bay interviews politician and author Pelle Dragsted about his new book, Nordisk Socialisme (Nordic Socialism), and the ideas and questions it poses: on what we can learn from the economic alternatives that already exist in our societies, on the political dangers of the increasing concentration of wealth, on the need for new economic models to face the challenges of the climate crisis, and on how we might (re-)introduce democracy into economy.
The 10 Reform Proposals in English:
- Expand the public sector.
- A modern fund socialism.
- Deprivatisation - new, democratic public ownership.
- A democratic, two chamber system in corporations.
- Democratisation of the financial sector and investment.
- Land and housing at use value, not market value.
- Data socialism.
- De-commodification and new public goods.
- Democratic doughnut planning.
- Full employment and a public job guarantee.
